BMW Crowned #1 in 2011

We did it!....
BMW beats out Mercedes Benz AND Lexus for the most vehicles sold in the United States in 2011.
BMW grabbed the top spot and fended off a late-year surge by rival Mercedes-Benz to win its first title as best-selling luxury brand in the United States.

Both German automakers took advantage of  Lexus inventory shortage from the effects of last March's earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

BMW's surge ended the streak of 11 years for Lexus as the top-selling luxury brand in the U.S. market. Lexus was third in 2011, selling 198,552 vehicles, a drop of 13 percent.BMW said that U.S. sales rose 15 percent to 26,834 in December, for an annual total of 247,907. Mercedes said its sales last month climbed 28 percent to 25,701, pushing its tally for the year to 245,192.
Behind Lexus was Cadillac with 2011 sales of 152,389; Acura, with volume of 123,299; Audi, with sales of 117,561; Infiniti, with sales of 98,461, and Lincoln, with U.S. deliveries of 85,643 last year.
Edmunds.com said this week that BMW increased consumer incentives by more than $200 per vehicle in December from a year earlier in an attempt to snatch the luxury sales title. Mercedes-Benz kept its incentives essentially flat, Edmunds said.

In closing I would like to say in my humble option the Lexus vehicle is such a different ride compared to
the BMW. When I recently took a drive in a Lexus LS 460 I could actually hear and feel the road with all it's imperfections in the floorboard and even in the drivers seat! The LS 460 felt light and unsafe, also the lack of power when trying to maneuver through traffic was surprising. It is really surprising that this vehicle is considered competition for BMW.When your in the market for your next vehicle and you are considering German or Japanese really pay attention to how the vehicle feels, sounds and responds.I am quite confident that you will agree BMW wins everytime.
