Motor Trend puts the BMW 328i at the top of the pack

It is quite comical to read what the folks over at Motor Trend Magazine had to say about some of the sporty luxury sedan automobiles that it compared.

The personal at Motor Trend tested 8 cars that are the front runners in this unique niche in the market place.
In my marketing studies I have learned that testimonials are the best tool for letting the consumer know you have the best of what they are shopping for.

The good folks over at Motor Trend had a few testimonials after driving the new 2012 328i,here they are.

Lieberman: "we sat around screaming at each other for over an hour trying to determine if the Buick was in fact a lamer duck than the Infiniti. We spent all of three minutes declaring the BMW best in test and best in class. This is not just a win for the 328i; it's a massacre. A slaughter. Doomsday. Armageddon. I say this with a straight face: There is no competition."

Kiino: "Does everything well. The epitome of a luxury sport sedan."

Evans: "What a car. There really isn't anything this car does wrong."

Jurnecka: "Last week I was telling a buddy (and huge BMW fan) that there isn't a single new BMW I'd even consider buying these days. I was wrong. I'd buy this car."

Febbo: "Maybe the most impressive thing about the BMW is that there is no superfluous stuff. They just built a really solid car."

Martinez: "Seriously, where's the M badge?"
Kong: "BMW wants to make my life difficult with a shocking product that is as good as it's been hyped."
Nishimoto: "BMW does what it does best with this new 328, and thus the bar is raised yet again."

Here's how they ranked (worst to first)

8th Buick Regal GS
This is definitely not your Grandfathers Buick.I had to use Grandfather because these things have sucked since the 1980's.

7th Infiniti G25
Can we now stop with the Infiniti customers coming in and saying "I really like my Infinity but I would like to test drive a BMW" just buy one and be done with it!

6th Acura TSX V-6
V-6 really? have these these guy's seen the price of gas lately?

5th Lexus IS-250 F-Sport
You do know these are Toyota's with a higher price tag right? And they are loud cars to drive, lot's of road noise.

4th Audi A4 Quattro
With all the hype I hear about Audi why are they still behind Mercedes Benz and BMW?

3rd  Mercedes Benz C 250
Mercedes came in third with a bad boost lag on the little 1.8 liter turbo 4 motor that comes in around 3000 rpm.The interior was not comfortable and the overall design was conservative bordering on boring.

The thing that jumps out at me when I drive a Mercedes Benz for comparison sake is the steering system is lighter and somewhat sloppy compared to the tight responsive sport steering on the BMW's. My experience in being a former Automotive Technician for over a decade is feeling the difference with the steering wheels.
Another aspect is Mercedes puts wood on their steering wheels.A sweaty palm on  finished wood slips doesn't it?

The test group also noticed body roll on hard turn ins. Body roll is unheard of on BMW's
Even though Mercedes Benz is working on a new C Class,I'm sure they are taking notes of what the 2012 3 series has to offer.

2nd  Volvo S60 T5
The Volvo was a likable car but the transverse engine and the transmissions weight being in the front of the vehicle had some of the critics calling it "a tank" and "a heifer"
BMW still surpassed the majority of the car manufacturer's with it's 50/50 weight ratio where the transmission is under you and the vehicle's weight is designed to improve handling, acceleration and braking.

1st  BMW 328i
The testimonials at the top really say it all but here is the link to the article so you can see for yourself.
